Pastor RonIn 1971 Ron came to know Christ through the preaching of David Morris, then president of The Apostolic Church of Canada. Both he and his wife are from Montreal originally.
Ron was an auto mechanic by trade, and as an entrepreneur owned and operated a garage in Brampton for some years. Ron has authored several books in both Portuguese and English, done television and radio work, been a missionary and pastor, an educator and a church planter. He is presently the president of Gilgal Christian Community and also rector of The Church Planter's Institute. |
Ministry ExperienceIn 1977 Ron and Joan went to work as church planting missionaries in Brazil, after serving for several years as an elder in his church. They began by planting churches in a rural township and, on their second tour, planted churches in the large city of Salvador, Bahia, until their return to Toronto, Canada in 1986.
Ron has continued to plant churches with several denominations and has been a consultant in church planting in Brazil and Canada. From 1991 to 2005 he taught theology and Bible classes at FAETESP, a Portuguese language Bible College which he founded in Toronto. He has taught modular studies in Africa, Europe, and South America, and has led tours to a number of Biblical counties. Ron continues to plant churches with other ministry partners and to mentor church planters. |
EducationRon has been a lifelong learner, having ministerial diplomas from Moody Bible Institute, Escola Teologica Pedro Canuto Lima, Insitituto Eduardo Lane, and Youth with a Mission. (He has also done programs with McGill University, McMaster University, Humber College and Medix College.)
He is a graduate of Canada Christian College, (Bachelor of Theology) and CCC Graduate School, (Master of Arts, Doctor of Ministry). He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from California State Christian University, and a Doctor of Theology degree from New York Theological Seminary. He has also earned a Ph.D. in Religious Education from Shalom Bible College and Seminary (summa cum laude), and was honoured with a Doctor of Pastoral Counselling degree (honoris causis) from Canadian Seminary. |
Past Ministry AppointmentsIn addition to serving as a missionary to Brazil, Ron served as Vice President of Igreja Apostolica Missionaria (Brazil).
He has been Portuguese Presbyter of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (Western District), and was professor of Church History at Canada Christian College for almost ten years. He served as church planter and as the Unit Supervisor for the GTA with Foursquare Gospel Church of Canada. Ron is presently the Director of Operations of The Canadian Association of Ministries and Pastors and is president of Gilgal Christian Community. |
